Indigenous trees are trees that are native to an area and therefore the best type for restoring the natural biodiversity and surviving the area’s climate. They are R100 and include the tree, compost, fertilizer, stake, tie, mulch, service to plant the tree, Greenpop’s sustainability and monitoring programme and education for the beneficiary. Greenpop will plant your trees at a tree-needy school or in a reforestation project and you’ll be sent a Tree Certificate with the GPS coordinates of where your trees are growing.
Lack of food and malnutrition is the one of the biggest problems in South African schools. This affects concentration levels, ability to learn and school attendance. Planting fruit trees can bolster school feeding schemes and provides children with the valuable experience of planting, growing, caring for something and seeing the positive results that come from this. Fruit trees are R120 and include the tree, compost, fertilizer, stake, tie, mulch, service to plant the tree, Greenpop’s sustainability and monitoring programme and education for the beneficiary.
Zambia has the 2nd highest deforestation rate in the world. In July 2012, Greenpop is hosting Trees for Zambia – a reforestation and conservation education project in Livingstone.
