Celebrating 15 years of turning hope into action

In 2010, Greenpop began with a simple goal: to plant 1,000 trees in one month. Fifteen years later, that spark has matured into a sophisticated, multidisciplinary movement for ecosystem restoration and community resilience across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Throughout our journey, we have proven that restoration is a creative act. Our work has expanded far beyond tree planting, encompassing 23 core projects that demonstrate the breadth of our systemic impact. From creating sustainable livelihoods in rural Malawi, to building a virtual reality museum to fight plastic pollution, to establishing safe green spaces in under-greened communities across South Africa, we have spent 15 years weaving together landscape restoration, urban greening, environmental education, and sustainable eventing. And we have had fun doing it.

Funding the future

As we look towards 2030, we are not merely seeking to do more of the same; we are seeking to meet the scale of the environmental challenges ahead. The funds raised through the Greenpop Gala represent a strategic investment in our internal resilience. We are building an institution that is ready to scale and capable of managing complex ecological landscapes with precision and transparency. To be specific, the R2,000,000 net profit from the 2026 gala will be utilised for:

People

Securing and retaining the specialised ecological, technical, and community-facilitation expertise required to lead large-scale restoration projects.

Technology

Implementing advanced GIS, drone monitoring, and data-verification platforms to ensure 100% transparency and verified impact for all of our projects.

Systems

Streamlining the logistical, operational, and educational frameworks that allow our model to be replicated across new biomes and borders.
By investing in these foundations today, our guests are not just attending a beautiful gala; they are fueling our internal engine that will support the restoration of Southern African landscapes for the next fifteen years and beyond.
We, the young farmers of Alexandra township, were honoured to learn from Greenpop. Your facilitation on agroecology opened our eyes to the power of agroforestry, showing us how restoring ecosystems can restore hope. From Suthani Food Garden to Lenin Drive Farm, your knowledge has planted seeds not only in our soil but in our community spirit.

Experiential highlights

The Greenpop Gala is more than an evening of philanthropy; it is a meticulously curated sensory journey into the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom. Set against the historic elegance of The Olive Press at Boschendal, the evening unfolds as a celebration of refined wildness.

Guests will be treated to a bespoke "Soil-to-Fork" culinary experience, paired with rare botanical cocktails by Veld & Sea and world-class wines from the estate. The atmosphere – defined by lush, nature-inspired aesthetics and an exclusive Botanical Black Tie dress code – will be punctuated by intimate musical performances and special guests. This is an evening designed for the tastemakers and the change-makers, where every detail reflects the prestige of a 15-year legacy and the vibrant future of African restoration.
