We Are Nature:
Youth Biodiversity Challenge

Learn. Connect. Act.

Imagine a world where nature thrives – sustained by the dreams and actions of people like you. Greenpop, in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and supported by the Captain Planet Foundation, is bridging the gap between digital engagement and ecological restoration.

We Are Nature is a pioneering environmental education initiative co-designed with youth from over 20 global networks.

Biodiversity action is in your hands

At the heart of the We Are Nature project is Nature Buddy, a WhatsApp chatbot that empowers young people in South Africa and Kenya to take the lead in biodiversity action. It's key features include:

Accessible Learning

High-impact education delivered through a platform everyone already uses.

Gamified Impact

Turning eco-anxiety into agency through interactive challenges.

Youth-Led Design

Built for young people, by young people, to ensure cultural and social relevance.

A movement rooted in global partnerships

This initiative is more than a tool; it is a transformative journey. By placing young voices at the heart of ecological protection, we are working together to achieve the global goal of living in harmony with nature.

Let’s drive change together

The pilot phase is complete, and the results are clear: youth-led action works. We are now looking for partners to help us scale this movement and reach thousands more young environmental leaders across the Global South.

Get in touch

Hear from our participants

From the urban centres of South Africa to the vibrant landscapes of Kenya, young environmental leaders are using Nature Buddy to drive tangible change. Watch their stories and see how gamified learning is sparking a restoration revolution.

Bring the movement to your community

The pilot may be over, but the mission continues. We have distilled our learnings and methodologies into a comprehensive We Are Nature Toolkit. This resource is designed for educators, youth leaders, and community organisers looking to facilitate high-impact biodiversity action.
