Our origin story

Reforest Fest was born from a vision to create a platform for ecological change that people actually wanted to be involved with. What started as a tree planting weekend with friends has evolved into Africa’s premier restoration festival.

We believe that the mission of restoration should be as joyful as the music on stage. Through a facilitated planting experience, interactive workshops, art installations, and live performances, we foster a deep, lasting connection to nature and community.

Planting with purpose

When you pick up a spade on Saturday morning, you aren't just planting a tree — you are becoming an active contributor to our Uilenkraal Forest Restoration Project. This site-specific mission falls under Greenpop’s broader Forests for Life program, which focuses on restoring degraded forest landscapes across the African continent.

By planting 5,000 to 10,000 indigenous trees together at Reforest Fest, we are helping to reconnect fragmented ecosystems, enhance local biodiversity, and build climate resilience in the Overberg. This isn't a one-off activity; it’s a critical pulse in a year-round restoration strategy aligned with the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.
