Gift a Tree, Grow a Forest

You've probably bought a greeting card this year, maybe several. A nice one gets read once, then ends up in a drawer, a recycling bin, or a landfill within a week.

A Tree Certificate is a different kind of card, one that plants an actual tree. Choose a design for the occasion, add your own personal message, and we'll send it straight to you. From there, it's yours to share however you like: forward it by email, or print it out and hand it over in person, just like any other card. But instead of fading, it keeps growing. A real, living tree with GPS coordinates in one of our forest restoration projects across Sub-Saharan Africa, still there decades after a card would have been thrown away.

It works for any occasion a card would, and costs about the same, too. Just R150.

If it's a moment that deserves a card, it deserves a tree

Birthdays

Another year around the sun deserves more than a card that gets read once and forgotten. Give something that grows with them.

Weddings

Congratulating a couple? Give them a tree (or two!) instead of a card, a living reminder of the day they said "I do."

Holidays

Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Valentine's Day, the moments we mark year after year. Make this year's a little different: a gift that keeps on giving.

Special ocassions

New babies, new houses, new jobs, engagements, and every big leap in between. Some moments deserve to be marked with something that lasts.

Sympathies

Flowers fade within the week. A tree, planted gently in someone's memory, keeps growing for decades as a peaceful, living tribute.

For every other moment

Thank you. Congratulations. Get well soon. Or just because. Whatever the reason, a tree says it a little better than a card ever could.

Why trees?

A tree does more than sit quietly where it's planted.

It holds soil in place, so rain doesn't wash it away. It pulls carbon from the air and helps regulate the climate. And it gives life to everything around it; forests are home to most of the world's land-based wildlife, from birds and insects to the small, quiet creatures most of us never see.

They're home to people too. Across Africa, where nearly 12% of land is degraded, a restored forest can mean cleaner water, fewer floods, and real livelihood opportunities for the communities who help it grow, communities who often depend on that land more than anyone.

One tree won't do all of that on its own. But an indigenous tree, planted and cared for in the right place, is a step in the right direction. And it's one you can point to, years from now, and know that you helped put it there.
